Ready to refresh your closet, reduce waste, and support your community?
The Great Swap is a volunteer-powered, community-driven event making the circular economy accessible (and exciting) for everyone. Join us on Saturday, July 12, 2026 at St. Luke's United Church (5374 St. Margaret's Bay Rd., Upper Tantallon) for a day of swapping, sharing, and connection. Entry is FREE with a donation of gently-used clothing, shoes, or accessories (you may also donate non-perishable food items or cash).
This event is hosted by St. Margaret’s Bay Pride in partnership with St. Luke’s United Church’s Affirming Team and The Great Swap.
How the swap works
Start by cleaning out your dresser drawers and decluttering your closet. Find items that are clean and in good condition (no stains/tears/odours) that you no longer wear. We accept clothing, shoes, and accessories for all ages, sizes, and identities. Read more about what to donate here.
Upon entry to the swap, you will leave your donations at the sorting table by the entrance so that they can be added to the swap tables by our volunteers. You are then free to peruse the clothing tables and keep any items you would like for yourself. There is no limit on the amount of clothing you can take, but in the community spirit of the event, please only take what you need. Once you've been through the swap tables, take a break or grab some lunch nearby, and return again later to see what has been added to the swap. There are no change rooms but there are mirrors set up around the room. Please bring a bag for your finds. Leftover items are donated to local charity.

Items we accept
In order to participate, we recommend a minimum of 5 pieces of swappable clothing, shoes, bags, and/or accessories. All genders, all orientations, all identities welcome. The emphasis is on women's clothing, but nothing that is in good, clean condition will be turned away. There is no maximum, and the more you donate, the better the swap will be for everyone!
Please ensure that donated items are:

Clean, in good condition

Free from odours, stains, broken hardware (e.g. zippers), holes, missing buttons, etc.
We do not accept:

Socks or underwear, unless they are new with tags

Bras, unless they are in very good condition

Bedding
Think of it like this: If you wouldn't be excited to give it to a friend, it probably shouldn't be swapped.
