About The Great Halifax Clothing Swap

In 2008, the founder of The Great Halifax Clothing Swap, Charlotte Genge, hosted her first clothing swap in her hometown of St. John’s, Newfoundland. A thriftaholic since birth, Charlotte has hosted numerous clothing swaps where thousands of swappers have hunted for new-to-them treasures.

 

Building on these original swaps, The Great Halifax Clothing Swap seeks to provide an outlet for community members to express their love for clothing by connecting people through their mutual interest in fashion and the environment. The ultimate goal of the swap is to help individuals refresh their wardrobes affordably, encourage a culture of reuse, make the circular economy accessible to the community, and create a channel to efficiently donate clothing to local charities.
